Bush Place: a unique bush experience
Bush Place is a program with a focus on outdoor, child led play and exploration in natural bush environments while fostering children’s connections with the flora and fauna of the Australian bush.
Bush Place has been offered at Annette’s Place in various forms since 2012. Currently Bush Place operates on a daily basis at a wild space connected to Monteagle Public School, 14 kilometres from Young. Children and staff travel on the Monteagle School Bus to and from the wild space, leaving at 10am and returning by 2pm. In the summer months, when the UV readings reach Extreme, the same experiences are offered, however Bush Place is based at Annette’s Place
Bush Place allows children time and space to simply engage with the natural setting or with resources carefully chosen to enhance their play and learning. These resources include tools, ropes, a fantasy basket, a fire bowl and a fire pit for warmth and cooking and a Nature Journal to record their observations and discoveries.
The benefits of children regularly connecting with nature for expended periods of time can be found in all developmental domains.
Annette’s Place is proud to recognised both nationally and internationally for our innovative Bush Place Program!!
